On Wednesday 23rd June 12 year 11 language students accompanied by Mr Tracey and Mrs McConnell enjoyed a flight over Belfast Loch and along the Antrim coast with Bombardier Aerospace. This was the prize in an essay writing competition organised by the Belfast City Council European Unit.

			<title>Recent successes in Schools’ Athletics </title>

In the Ulster Schools&amp;rsquo; Athletics Championships at Antrim, three Year 11 pupils produced outstanding performances in their respective events. Sean Harkin won a well deserved Silver medal in the 1500 metre steeplechase; Andrew Bolster took Gold in the 400 metre hurdles and Ryan McParland stormed to victory in the 200 metres and 100 metre hurdles. Both Andrew and Ryan set new College athletics records in the process.

Mr Prigent, Miss Hillick, Mr Stewart, members of staff from the College, and four parent-leaders will also be accompanying the seventy Year 9 boys on their trip to France. The group will leave the College on Tuesday 15 June to travel to Rosslare for an overnight sailing to Cherbourg.

We were informed of our success by a letter from the awarding body, the NI Amenity Council. Mrs. Mc Gonigle will accompany pupils to accept the award at a ceremony in Belfast on the 8th of June. The achievement is just reward for our ongoing efforts to improve the school environment.

Four pupils from St. Columb's College (Brendan Douban, Eanna McGown, Stephen Ballard and Gavin Montgomery) represented the school and Derry city in a cross-community Hurling tournament in Cookstown. The pupils involved joined other Year 11 boys from Oakgrove College, St. Joseph's Boys School, St. Peter's and St. Patrick's and St. Brigid's College to form a Derry city select.

On the 21st April 2010 Saint Columb&amp;rsquo;s College Year 8 football team travelled to the Dungannon Swifts&amp;rsquo; home ground to play the final of the Northern Ireland Football Cup Final. Prior to this Saint Columb&amp;rsquo;s had breezed through the competition, winning all of their matches in great style.
