The 2009 – 2010 Cracking Ideas competition which closed earlier this year saw a fantastic 8,994 entries! This jaw dropping total, all featuring cracking ideas for Wallace and Gromit’s next business venture. Gavin designed an Alarm - O – Pillow’ which would help you wake up gently in the morning. His idea was both inventive and creative. His idea has awarded him the regional winner’s prize – a Cracking Ideas Laptop, Wallace and Gromit book signed by Oscar Winner Nick Park himself and a Cracking Ideas goodie bag. Along with his parents and his Technology and Design teacher Miss Lorraine O’ Doherty who ran the competition, he will attend an award ceremony at St. Leonard’s Mansion, Legoland Windsor on Wednesday the 7th July. Gavin will attend the awards ceremony and enjoy a tour of Legoland. Overall winner will receive a bespoke Cracking Ideas trophy hand crafted by the Ardman model makers as well as the title of Cracking Ideas winner 2010. Sally Long, Education Manager at the Intellectual Property Office commented “We have been truly overwhelmed by the number of Cracking Ideas we have received this year. The competition has attracted so many fantastic ideas for Wallace and Gromit’s next business the innovative pair will never be short of a job! It just goes to show how creative and enterprising children in the UK really are.” Well done Gavin! Good luck in Windsor on the 7th July. Miss Lorraine O’ Doherty – Technology and Design |
