In the Ulster Schools’ Athletics Championships at Antrim, three Year 11 pupils produced outstanding performances in their respective events. Sean Harkin won a well deserved Silver medal in the 1500 metre steeplechase; Andrew Bolster took Gold in the 400 metre hurdles and Ryan McParland stormed to victory in the 200 metres and 100 metre hurdles. Both Andrew and Ryan set new College athletics records in the process.

In the All Ireland Schools’ Finals in Tullamore, Ryan took the Irish title in his favoured event of the 100 metre hurdles and this performance secured him a place on the elite athlete development squad which will be travelling to Romania this week for additional coaching and conditioning. Year 8 Athletics CompetitionThe winners of last week’s Athletics Team competition was 8A. There were impressive performances by Conor Quigley in the 100 metres, Jamie Gamble - 800 metres, Caolan Doherty- Long Jump and Davin Heaney in the Shot Putt. Class 8D recorded the fastest relay time. The top three class scores were as follows:
Class 8F won the poster competition.
