Celebrating Excellence was the theme of the day at a recent event at Lisburn Civic Centre. Forty students from across Northern Ireland were being honoured for their performance in last summer's A Level examinations. These talented students are amongst the top 0.2% of entries for the CCEA Summer 2009 A level examinations. Included in this group were St Columb's College students David Neely (who came Joint First in A Level Biology) and Matthew Lynch-Wong-Chung (who came First in A Level Mathematics). ![]() Matthew Lynch -Wong-Chung and David Neely at Lisburn Civic Centre Joining David and Matthew on the day were their families and St Columb's College Principal, Mr Sean McGinty. ![]() Matthew Lynch-Wong-Chung, First in A Level Mathematics, with Mr Sean McGinty Congratulating all the students personally was Neil Anderson, Acting Chief Executive at CCEA. He commented: “CCEA takes pride in organising this special ‘Celebrating Excellence’ event, which is now in its eleventh year. It is important we congratulate the hard work of these top achieving students, as well as their family and teachers who supported and encouraged them in their studies. These young people should be extremely proud of everything they have accomplished. What they have achieved is no mean feat and should stand them in good stead in their future education and careers.” |
